“If art is to make us pause and think,
'Picnic at the Cemetery' definitely give me a good stir.”
Savio Wong, Audience review on Edinburgh Festival Fringe website

Once romantic, filmic, visceral, and nostalgic, this instrumental cabaret for piano and strings comes to Edinburgh under the artistic and musical direction of Njo Kong Kie, long-serving music director of Montreal's infamous La La La Human Steps and recent composer for Nederlands Dans Theater, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ballet BC, the Silesian Dance Theatre and the Singapore Dance Theatre. Praised by Wholenote Magazine as “a pleasure to behold,”

Featuring Njo's original compositions for piano trio and performed by the Folga Gaang Project, with Njo on the piano, Hong Iat U on the violin and David Wong Ka Fai on the cello, Picnic in the Cemetery interweaves classical sensibilities with contemporary impulses, merging the Old World with the New World in a musical performance of evocative cinematic theatricality.
An impressive cabaret without words

"These playful and heartfelt ditties are a pleasure
to behold and satisfying in a way
that lighter fare often is not."
Wholenote Magazine

“The performance clearly resonated with everyone in the audience. This is music that brings incomparable comfort to the listeners.”
Fan Fu Chow, Music Critic based in Hong Kong

“This disc achieves that rare ideal of new music that is also pleasant listening.”
